SuiteCommerce Extensions: All 33 NetSuite Add-Ons Explained

Commerce Extensions are add-ons that NetSuite builds and supports for SuiteCommerce websites. They add features such as product comparison, stock notifications, gift wrap and product feeds, without custom code. This guide lists every extension NetSuite currently distributes, which sites each one works with, how to install them, and when it makes sense to build your own.

What you need before you can use Commerce Extensions

Commerce Extensions only run on SuiteCommerce, SuiteCommerce MyAccount, or SuiteCommerce Advanced (SCA) from the Aconcagua release onward. Older SCA sites (Vinson, Elbrus, Kilimanjaro) have to be migrated first.

Your account also needs these SuiteApps installed:

• SuiteCommerce, SuiteCommerce MyAccount, or SuiteCommerce Advanced (Aconcagua or later)
• SuiteCommerce Extension Management
• SuiteCommerce Base Theme
• SuiteCommerce Configuration
• Reference Product Lists Records

And for each extension:

1. Provisioning. The account must be provisioned with the extension's bundle.
2. Install. An administrator installs the bundle (Customization > SuiteBundler > Search & Install Bundles, using the bundle ID in the table below).
3. Release. Some extensions depend on the latest NetSuite release, so check your account is upgraded.
4. Activate. Extensions that need activation are switched on per website domain in the Extension Manager (Commerce > Extensions > Extension Manager). That's also where you check whether you have the latest version.

Unless noted, each extension works with SuiteCommerce and SCA Aconcagua or later. "+ MyAccount" means it also works on SuiteCommerce MyAccount.

Version check: SC Blog, SC Advanced Sign Up and SC Product Page Printer need SCA 2019.1 or later. NetSuite CPQ integration needs 2020.2 or later, and SC Cookie Consent needs 2021.2 or later. On an older SCA release, those won't install even though the rest will.

Which extensions to start with

There's no single "top 10". It depends on what your site sells and to whom. From the stores we work on:

• B2B distributors and wholesalers: Grid Order for matrix items, Advanced Sign Up for account requests, Order Status so buyers stop emailing for tracking, and Inventory Display so they can see what's in stock before ordering.
• B2C and DTC brands: Item Badges, Product Comparison, Stock Notifications and Gift Wrap & Message. Add Size Chart for apparel.
• Every site: Google Tag Manager Editor so marketing can manage tags without a deploy, Cookie Consent if you sell into regions that require it, and Product Feeds if you advertise products on Google Shopping or other channels.

When the standard extensions aren't enough: custom extensions

NetSuite's extensions cover common needs. Anything specific to how you sell (an estimated-delivery date based on your own warehouse cut-offs, a product configurator, customer-specific ordering rules, or data from another system) needs a custom extension.

Custom extensions are built with the SuiteCommerce Extensibility API and NetSuite's extension developer tools, then deployed to your account and activated in the Extension Manager like any other extension. Because they use the extensibility framework rather than editing core SCA source, they survive SuiteCommerce upgrades far better than the old "customize the source" approach.

Things to plan for:

• Upgrades. A well-built extension keeps working when NetSuite updates SuiteCommerce. Code that overrides core modules usually breaks.
• Back-end logic. Many extensions also need a SuiteScript service or a custom record in NetSuite, not just front-end changes.
